The dish itself usually isn’t the problem. Leaks and moisture damage tend to start around the mounting bracket, lag screws or poorly sealed holes. Careful placement, proper sealant and solid structural support can lower the risk before the first drill hole appears.

  • Non-penetrating mount: The dish sits on a weighted frame, often on a flat surface, without screws through the roof.

Each choice has tradeoffs. Pole mounts need yard space. Wall mounts need solid backing. Non-penetrating mounts need the right surface and enough weight to stay stable.
