When Hattie opened the linen closet in her Pflugerville, Texas, home, she noticed an unpleasant, musty smell.
“In the bottom of the linen closet is a laundry hamper, and I started pulling clothes out and the odor got stronger, and then I noticed the bottom of the shelf was all wet and had mildew on the other side,” she said.
Hattie’s closet was adjacent to her bathroom, and, in fact, her bathtub was on the other side of the wall from the linen closet. The overflow drain on her bathtub had begun leaking into her linen closet, causing the musty smell and mildew.
Luckily for Hattie, she had already enrolled in an emergency interior plumbing and drain repair plan from HomeServe, which her local water utility, Nexus Water Group, had made available to its customers. So, she made a call to HomeServe, and a reliable and qualified plumber from Basin Plumbing of San Antonio was dispatched to her home to make a repair.
“The plumber recognized the problem within maybe 30 seconds,” Hattie said. “He looked at the faucet and the shower head and knew what it was. It was all fixed within 15 minutes or so.”
Hattie appreciated the clear communication from the plumber.
“He showed me (the issue), and when I told him that he could cut through the closet (wall), I could see the water (leak) when he turned the water on,” Hattie said.“He showed me where it was leaking and told me what he was going to do. He did a very clean cut and there wasn’t a mess for me to clean up.”
Hattie had dealt with other repair companies before and experienced long waits
for service.
“I have had other repair plans,” she said. “Once the refrigerator went out and it took days to get it fixed. Of course, all the food was spoiled, and I had to throw it away. Then I had another situation with the electrical box, and I had no electricity because the electric company turned it off (as a hazard) and I had to wait for that. I was really happy to see how quickly HomeServe responded.
“I’m very pleased with HomeServe, and, as a matter of fact, I have two more people thinking about signing up after I told them about it.”
“They scheduled it very promptly. I probably wasn’t even off the phone with HomeServe, and I was getting a text, then a call from the plumber. It’s just a very, very good service.
